Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about creating, preserving, and visiting a T.O.M.B memorial.
What is T.O.M.B?
T.O.M.B (Tokenized On-chain Memorials & Burials) is a digital memorial platform. It lets you create a permanent, private space to honor someone you love — with photos, videos, audio, and written memories — stored on the blockchain and encrypted so only invited visitors can view it.
How much does a memorial cost?
Creating a memorial is a one-time $20 USD fee. You also pay the small Base network gas fee for the blockchain transaction. Optional tributes like candles or flowers are priced separately. There are no subscriptions or hidden platform fees.
What happens if T.O.M.B shuts down?
Your memorial content is stored permanently on Arweave, and the memorial token lives on the Base blockchain. Even if the T.O.M.B website were unavailable, the on-chain record and Arweave data would remain. You can also export custody information so your family can always locate the token and content.
Who can see a memorial?
Memorials are private by default. Only the memorial custodian and wallet addresses they explicitly invite can view the content. The public token record shows that a memorial exists, but not its contents or visitors.
Can a memorial be deleted?
Because content is stored on Arweave and a token is minted on Base, complete deletion is not technically possible — that is what makes the memorial permanent. The custodian can remove visitor access, update content, or transfer custodianship to someone else.
What does 'soulbound' mean?
Soulbound means the memorial token cannot be sold, traded, or transferred to a stranger. It can only be passed to a new custodian through the official custodianship transfer process, which carries a small fee.
What are tributes?
Visitors can leave tributes such as prayers (free, 24 hours), roses, candles, bouquets, or an Eternal Flame. Each tribute has its own price and duration. Prayers are always free. Tributes help visitors express remembrance and support the memorial custodian.
How do I transfer custodianship?
A memorial custodian can transfer their role to a new wallet address at any time for a one-time $5 fee. This is useful for passing responsibility to a family member. The token remains soulbound and cannot be sold.
What wallets are supported?
T.O.M.B works with any EVM-compatible wallet, including Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Rainbow, and WalletConnect-enabled wallets. Coinbase Smart Wallet is supported for easy onboarding without a separate browser extension.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. Memorial content is encrypted using Lit Protocol and stored permanently on Arweave. Decryption is only possible for the custodian and invited visitors. T.O.M.B cannot read your private content.
